These bowls are all thrown one at a time from single lumps of clay on an electric wheel. The rounded bottoms and feet are hand trimmed with a deer antler tool I made. The individual character of each bowl results from carefully matching the type of decoration with the location to be fired in the kiln. Bowls in the back of the kiln tend to be glazed with wood ash glazes or Shino type glazes, while those in the middle of the kiln have a mix of slip decoration and glaze splashes. Pieces fired near the fire box are generally bare clay and show heavy ash deposits. They are about 5 inches in diameter and 3 ½ inches tall.
