This is the classic shape bowl that spans the world. My grandmother uses hers as a cereal bowl, so that is what I call them. In Korea they are used both for tea and rice and in Japan it can be called a tea bowl. I think it is up to the user to decide what to call them. A ball of clay is weighed out and thrown on the wheel. They are placed on a chuck for hand trimming. Most of these bowls are covered with a white slip and have some blue slip decoration. Generally they are wood ash or Shino glazed, but some are not glazed at all.
