Gallery: Umbrella Stands

Home  >  Current Work  >  Jars Tea Pots Et Al  >  Umbrella Stands

These make great home entryway pieces. I've also seen people use them as
planters. Originally, I was simply making these large vases based on
smaller forms when a customer called them "umbrella stands" - a vessel used
to hold wet umbrellas to prevent water from getting on the floor. They are
constructed from slabs on a hand wheel and most have handles. I mostly
leave them to the fire for the finished look, but some are glazed, and both
are available. They range in size from 25 to 32 inches tall by about 9
inches in diameter.
